Compliance & QC Specialist

  • Remote
    • Portland, Oregon, United States

Job description

We represent an established multi-state residential mortgage banker that's adding a Compliance & QC Specialist to a small, focused compliance team. This is the seat that quietly keeps the regulatory machine running — and gets the recognition for it. You'll anchor three high-impact functions for the company (daily quality control, NMLS licensing operations, and advertising compliance review), reporting to a Chief Compliance Officer who knows what good looks like and gives you the room to deliver it.

If you've been the person at your shop who tracks every state filing, hunts down every advertising violation before it becomes a finding, and keeps the QC pipeline clean — this is the role that puts that work front and center.

Why this role is worth a look

  • Direct CCO partnership — you're not three layers down, your work goes straight up

  • Real ownership across three functions — QC, licensing, and advertising review, not a boxed-in scope

  • Cross-trained partner — neither of you ever feels stuck taking time off

  • Visibility into branch operations and origination — not strictly back-office

  • Established lender with strong compliance discipline already in place — you're inheriting a working program, not rebuilding from scratch

What you'll own

Daily Pre-Fund QC
You're the person selecting daily pre-fund files for QC review based on risk factors and targets, sending them to the QC vendor, and chasing deficiencies with responsible parties until everything mitigates cleanly inside the QC platform.

NMLS & State Licensing
You'll handle the monthly state reporting that keeps company licensing in good standing, and you'll be deep in NMLS for the team — running individual originator and branch license applications across jurisdictions, resolving deficiencies, and keeping pre-licensing and continuing education on track.

Advertising Compliance
You'll review marketing material against federal and state advertising rules and log every approval. You'll proactively audit Loan Officers' online presence — websites, social, paid ads — for compliance issues, then partner with the Chief Compliance Officer and Branch Managers to clean up anything that surfaces. You'll also build and maintain the in-house resource that loan officers lean on for state-specific advertising requirements.

Audit Readiness
When examiners or auditors come calling, you'll pull marketing archives and assemble files quickly. You'll also pick up special projects from the CCO as they come up.

Coverage & Collaboration
You'll cross-train with a peer so the team has full coverage year-round.

What we're looking for

  • Two or more years in an office environment — banking, mortgage, regulation, or marketing all count

  • Working knowledge of RESPA, TILA, ECOA, the SAFE Act, and UDAAP — you don't need to be a lawyer, but you need to know what these are and how they touch what you do day to day

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication

  • Comfort with computers, social media, and the variety of channels lenders advertise through

  • Detail-oriented operator who solves problems independently and prioritizes across multiple workstreams

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience inside a mortgage QC platform

  • Direct NMLS administration experience — individual originator and branch licensing

The Mortgage Talent Network is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected class.
